Wild Duck Season (01 September - 31 January)
Wild Goose Season (01 October- 31 January)
The river Danube with its many channels, ponds and valleys provide some of the largest wintering grounds for migrants. This region offers the opportunity to shoot very high number of birds per day, which you can choose from 8 species of duck (Gadwall, European Teal, Mallard, Pintail, Garganey Teal, Southern Shoveler, Common Pochard, Tufted duck) and 2 species of geese (Bean goose and White-fronted goose). This region with its many swamps, marshes and small lakes carries heavy concentrations of completely wild birds and intensity of shooting can be mistaken for driven goose & duck shooting. It is reasonably to expect 5-15 birds per day per gun.
Duck & goose shooting syndicates are very welcome to explore the many rivers and lakes in Northern Serbia, but we would strongly recommend visiting the areas of the river Danube and by the river Tisa in Northern Serbia. Most of our best wild goose& duck areas in this region are located by the Danube, 40min-1.5h away from Belgrade Airport and wild boar shooting can be an additional attraction. Every year the middle Danube region provides food and rest for over 120 000 geese and duck on their way from Western Siberia and Northern Europe to Africa, and Southern and Southeast Asia.
It is important to remember that in Northern Serbia there are some protected bird species and there is no excuse for confusion bringing yourself and us into conflict with the Law. Due to these and many other safety issues it is an obligation to follow the instruction of the accompanying guides. The best time for duck shooting and goose fighting is during the winter months when the temperatures are between 5C and –5C.
Driven Wild Duck
Driven wild duck on the river Danube is organised at places where this enormous river has created oxbow lakes and also where the Danube meets other tributaries. Our guides know how duck migrate during the season and how temperature and wind influence them during the day. Duck often have preferred flight paths as they move back and forth to feeding and resting areas. Our personnel work hard before each season and, thus, know where thousands of birds tend to go when scared by other guns during the day. Drives are organised in three groups in places where duck come to feed or rest.
Driven duck in Northern Serbia is highly ethical as it is always organised on a single side of the river giving birds the opportunity to fly to other parts of the Danube. Nearby channels and lakes that are connected to the Danube provide huge numbers of birds and enough opportunities for up to 20 birds per driven day.
Much cheaper and more predictable driven duck shooting can be organised in North East Croatia close to the Hungarian border. Most birds, however, are not completely wild but farmed for the purpose similar to other driven shoots in Western and Central Europe.
