The walked-up quail shooing in Northern Serbia is very elegant sport and provides a unique opportunity for the UK guns to shoot completely wild birds that migrate from Africa to Europe during the summer. On their way to the European nesting grounds, Common Quail fly over the Black Sea following big rivers such as the Danube, Tisa and Sava. During summer months, therefore, this bird size of small partridge can be found in high grass or stubble fields in Northern Serbia.

Season (01 August - 31 September)

This short season is well regulated by strict annual quotas that give birds enough time after a season to rest and prepare for a long journey to Africa over the Mediterranean Sea.

Expected Bags

We do not encourage extremely large numbers of birds per day, as we would like to have this attractive migrant present in our regions in future. Ethical and sustainable quotas of 15-20 birds per gun/ drive, however, will guarantee you great fun, a good time and unforgettable memories. We organise two walked up drives per day for a teams of 4-8 guns and a total should be around 20-40 birds per gun per day. Morning and evening quail drives are a memorable experience, as you will shoot at the sunrise and sunset each day to avoid the heat of the day. This allows enough time for hunters and dogs to get a proper rest or even a siesta for some of us.

Support

Our team provide all sorts of trained dogs for flushing and retrieving the game. If you would like to hire a shotgun during your stay we will provide you with one for 30 Euros per day. If you would like to buy cartridges locally we are happy to assist. Serbian standards require you to use cartridges with pellets up to 2,5mm (UK size 7.5 or 8).

Regulations & Safety

During Quail shooting over pointers the Guns move very slowly in a straight line across the stubble fields. While walking you should check every few seconds to see if you are in line. Once a pointer flushes game, only the gun closest to the dog will be able to fire. Swinging the gun through the line is dangerous and forbidden. Our staff have the right to exclude you from shooting if your behaviour is dangerous to others.
